Catalina is studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics and Business A-levels. She has a strong talent in fine pencil art and loves keeping up with current fashion. She enjoys boxing, which for the two years has taught her discipline and focus. At the centre of her life is a faith rooted in Jesus, which shapes her values and the way she moves through the world. She says this award will be a way to honour her mother’s love and hard work.

Haniah has a strong passion for business and accounting. She applied to challenge herself, put herself out there and inspire other young women to pursue careers in finance. She is driven by a desire to make a positive impact and help others grow and improve. Through opportunities like this, Haniah hopes to build confidence and encourage more girls, particularly those from ethnic minority backgrounds, to believe in their potential and aim high.

Omotayo Akolapo

King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls
Omotayo was born in Nigeria and moved to the UK at the age of 12. A naturally curious young person, she has always wanted to understand how things work and enjoys solving complex problems. She is currently studying A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Computer Science, which she chose to develop strong analytical and technical skills for a future in engineering. She applied for this award to challenge herself and recognise her commitment to learning, inspired by Rolls-Royce as an innovative engineering company shaping the future through technology and creativity.

Ibrahim has a passion in supporting others, whether that be in school as a Head Boy, or outside where he volunteers and is an active member of a charity. When he found out about this award, he had doubts he’d make it far, but here he is today! He loves meeting new people, so can’t wait to meet all the other finalists!

Amber Laing

Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy
Amber started sixth form studying maths, physics and biology; however, she missed her passion and is now studying maths and art because she loves being creative. She completed an EPQ on “Does masking significantly affect autistic teenagers’ mental health?”, a topic important to her. Amber applied for the award because it is inclusive and shows anything is possible if you go for it. She has been diagnosed with dyslexia and autism and being assessed for auditory processing disorder and ADHD. High school was hard and involved extra classes, but she says don’t doubt yourself—everyone follows a different path.
